Purple tea Zijuan” (Camellia sinensis var.assamica Zijuan) is a new species of special tea plant originating in Yunnan. In 1954, Zhou Pengju, the Tea Research Institute of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, discovered tea trees with purple buds and leaves in the Nannuoshan group tea garden in Menghai County. According to the clues provided by Zhou Pengju, Wang Ping and Wang Ping planted tea trees in Nannuoshan. A tea tree with purple stems, purple leaves, and purple buds was found in the group tea garden that was planted.

It was originally named’Zijian’ and later changed to’Zijuan’. In 1985, it was artificially bred into a clone variety, and in 2005 it was authorized and protected by the Plant New Variety Protection Office of the State Forestry Administration. The variety right number is 20050031. Cutting propagation and transplanting have a high survival rate. It is suitable for growth at an altitude of 800-2000 meters, with sufficient sunlight, warm and humid, fertile soil and a pH value between 4.5-5.5.

At present,’Zijuan’ has a certain scale of planting in Yunnan and has been introduced to major tea areas in China for planting. In terms of products, people continue to explore six types of tea using purple cuckoo tea as raw materials, and many products have been formed. However, the processing technology developed into Zijuan Pu’er tea is the most mature and has been welcomed and recognized by consumers, forming a unique series of Zijuan Pu’er products.

Zijuan black tea: The shape is still strong and knotty, straighter, slightly darker, darker, the soup is reddish and brighter, the aroma is richer and has a honey fragrance, the taste is gentle, and the bottom of the leaf is slightly hard and reddish.

Zijuan White Tea: The tea sticks are tightly knotted, the color is silvery white, and the pekoe is disclosed. The soup color is bright apricot yellow, the fragrance is more obvious, and the taste is fresh and mellow.
