International Tea Day

 An indispensable treasure that the Nature bestows upon mankind, tea has been a divine bridge that links up civilizations. Ever since 2019, when the United Nations General Assembly designated 21 May as International Tea Day, tea producers around the globe have had their dedicated celebrations, taken to a global stage for the sustained and healthy development of the tea industry, and created common space where tea cultures of countries and nations integrate and interact.

To promote international tea industry exchanges and cooperation, and encourage the sustainable and healthy development of the tea industry domestically and internationally, on the second International Tea Day (21 May 2021), 24 tea-related institutions from 16 countries and regions such as the Tea Industry Committee of China Association for the Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation (referred to as the Tea Industry Committee), Specialized Sub-council of Agriculture of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China Tea Industry Alliance, Italy Trade Commission, Sri Lanka Tea Board, European American Chamber of Commerce & Industry jointly proposed the Initiative on the Promotion of Tea Industry Development 2021 International Tea Day at the 4th China International Tea Expo. Lv Mingyi, chairman of the Tea Industry Committee of China Association for the Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation, took the stage to announce the Initiative on behalf of the Tea Industry Committee.

The release of the Initiative on the Promotion of Tea Industry Development will not only promote the development of the world tea industry, but also enhance the in-depth cooperation among the involved institutions.
